What Causes Intermittent Abdominal Pain Below The Rib Cage?

I have pain on the left side of my upper stomach, under the left side of my ribs. I have been to Dr s before, had blood test done and no one knows what it is. The pain has been there on and off for two years now. at one time the pain lasts for about 3 months.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have intermittent abdominal pain below the rib cage . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis , acid reflux , kidney infection , irritable bowel syndrome , crohn’s disease and lactose intolerance . Pain under the rib can also occur due to condition like angina . I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan ,x-ray , ultrasound and allergy test . Doctor may prescribe laxative omeprazole , analgesic , anti allergic along with antibiotics like ornidazole . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist in case of kidney problem .
