What Causes Intense Pain In Lower Rib Cage With Swelling?

I have an intense pain at my left lower rib cage. It is swollen & bulgy & my ribs feel like they are being lifted up making them sit about 2inches higher than my right rib cage. When I try to run or walk fast, the pain becomes intense quickly. When I m just sitting, it feels like something is there that shouldn t be there. I feel like I have to constantly stretch up so I can breathe easier. And I do get tired easily. I had a fluoroscopy done and it showed nothing. I am only 20, in shape and very active. This doesn t seem right! Help!

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely due to costochondritis. For such case in my patients I treat with anti inflammatory gels like diclofenac or ketoprofen for local application. If the pain is more then I also give the oral tablets of same. If still there is severe pain then local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic will be helpful. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
