What Causes Intense Pain And Swelling In Feet?

For the past 2 days I have been having very intense pain around the toes in my right foot. My foot is swollen, red and hot to the touch. The pain is so severe even having a sheet touch it almost puts me to tears and gets worse at night. I ve had this happen 1 other time before and the pain just disappeared after a couple of days and everything was back to normal. I didn t do anything to injury the foot. This just came out of the blue. Any suggestions? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
From the history provided it is clear that there is definitely some inflammation that is present. But having mentioned it is the foot it's unclear as to which part is involved. it could be the arthritis of the joints to injection of soft tissue to an abscess to gout. For now take a NSAID like diclofebac with a serratiopeptidase combination and please see a General/ orthopaedic surgeon
