What Causes Intense Earache Along With Bleeding?

My 27 yr old daughter just returned from South America and is on layover in Florida. She had a head cold and sore throat the last few days and severe ear ache. After landing in Florida and several hrs later the pain in her ear became unbearable. Her flight was cancelled and she went to an urgent care dr because the pain was so intense and her ear was draining fluid and blood. She is supposed to fly to Denver in the morning- is it ok for her to fly? She is NOT worried about the pain - just wants to know if would cause permanent damage..#wantstogethome!
