What Causes Insomnia After Head Injury?

Yes, I have suffered a slight head injury 7 weeks ago. no real concussion symptoms. went to see a dr and a neurologist they booked me an MRI which came back normal. but i am still having symptoms such as insomnia, inability to focus properly, fuzziness and pain on the left side of my head. i also have pupils of unequal sizes which have been that way for 7 weeks. a dr recently diagnosed me with TMJ, could unequal pupils size be from TMJ or would it be good to go for another MRI?

Insomnia is a common side effect of head concussion or possible TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. There are medications that can be prescribed short term for this type of problem if it is truly new in onset. On the other hand if your insomnia was actually present to some extent PRIOR to the head blow then, you may be experiencing an EXACERBATION of the baseline condition and this could get better over time...though we are talking at least 6-12 months and sometimes longer depending on the severity of the head injury. Therefore, a sleep study just might be in order to detect other problems that could be contributing and need to be addressed.
