What Causes Inflammation On Tongue Along With Throbbing Pain In Gums?

I am 46 year old female. My 16 year old daughter and I have been suffering from a virus that doesn't want to go away. We are sleeping, taking tylonal for fever and finally holding down food.

My question is regarding my tongue. It is very trashy. I have eaten a couple small oranges each day. I have stopped that because it burns. In addition my gums are throbbing and my teeth hurt. Not sure if this is part of the virus, but am wondering what I can place on my tongue for immediate relief. I have tried ice, the cooling effect doesn't last long.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that pain and soreness of tongue and gums along with fever can be due to infection only and infection is leading to inflammation I side mouth and causes Gingivostomatitis..
I would suggest you to start talking a multivitamin tablet daily..
You can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain especially during meals..
You can do warm saline gargles..
Do cool water rinses atleast 3 to 4 times a day..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Avoid spicy and sore foods and take a soft and bland diet..
Drink plenty of water..
In case if there is no improvement in a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood tests to check for the type of infection, serum iron and Vitamin B12 levels etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
