What Causes Inflammation On The Cheeks After Consuming Apricot Pits?

Dr. Rynne, My wife has consumed apricot pits, crushed in a smoothy - two days in a row. She is pink cheeked and says she has other symptoms of cyanide poisoning. She won t go to the Urgent Care or E.R. and is full functioning. Can we treat this at home?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, possibility of allergy to apricot pits is more likely. So apply Mometasone cream on cheeks. Give her combination of antihistamine (Levocetirizine, Fexofenadine) and anti allergic (Montelukast). Avoid apricots in future. She will be alright with all these in 2-3 days.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your wife.

Thanks.
