What Causes Increased Heart Beats After Eating?

I am two years out from bariatric surgery. When I eat a meal, sometimes, I have to lay down because my heart starts beating so hard. What does it mean when I can feel my heart beating by putting my hand on my chest? It often takes up to 2 hours until the heart calms down.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Such symptoms needs to be ruled out for heart disease, else it may not be due to any gastric surgery (Bariatric surgery ) but it seems to be the separate illness, I advice you to see the cardiologist for complete cardiac evaluation test, such symptoms of tachycardia has to be taken seriously.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
