What Causes Increase In The TSH Levels As Compared To The Preoperative Thyroid Lobectomy?

my wife underwent right thyroid lobectomy around two months back (nov 18) for goiter 4cm ..few days back got her total thyroid profile done whereby the results as such were T3 63,T4 3.1 AND tsh >150.. she had normal thyroid levels ..preoperative period and also nowadys dont feel any symptomatic thyroid weakness like lathargy and all.. please suggest

It happens quiet often that after one lobe of thyroid is removed, the other lobe may cease to function. The exact cause is not known. Perhaps due to intrinsic abnormality of the remaining thyroid or the surgery and major stress associated would have precipitated autoimmune phenomenon. Whatever may be the cause, this is an easy to treat disease and take levothyroxine on a daily basis
