What Causes Inconsistencies In Stool Formation?

My 5 year old daughter has had cdiff for 8 days now. Her stool sample came back yesterday saying that she has cdiff, the Dr wants to put her on more antibiotics even though she is getting better. She has been getting better for the last 2 days now. Her stool is not diarrhea and her activity levels are back to normal. I really don't want to introduce more antibiotics if she is getting better.

Hello,

C. diff is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhoea to life-threatening inflammation of the colon.

So, I would recommend continuing giving the medication to your daughter even though she is getting better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
