Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has been diagnosed with impetigo. His sores are beginning to crust over, however under his lip, they have started to bleed and now it s very black. Should I seek further treatment? He is applying antibiotic ointment and taking oral antibiotics (on day 3).
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Impetigo is a highly infectious bacterial skin infection caused by bacteria named Staphylococcus aureus. Most common among preschool children. People who play close contact sports, such as rugby, American football, and wrestling or boxing, are also susceptible to this disease. Treatment may involve washing with soap and water and letting the impetigo dry in the air. Mild cases may be treated with bactericidal ointment. More severe cases require oral antibiotics, such as dicloxacillin, flucloxacillin, or erythromycin. Alternatively, amoxicillin combined with clavulanate potassium, cephalosporins, etc
If problem persist visit a dermatologist
Don't worry you would be fine Hoping your query is solved.
