What Causes Hypertension While On Triamcinolone?

Hello, I have gained a lot of weight due to triamcinolone injections for back pain. I have also broken out almost over night with giant stretch marks all over my abdomen. I had a Sonogram that shows a fatty liver. My belly hangs down low. My entire body changed shape. Are these effects permanent? Why didn t my Dr tell me about these side effects? When I showed him my belly and my stretch marks he said the shots could not have caused them but it seems very likely by what I ve read. Is this belly fat going to go away? Dieting isn t helping. I m pretty sure the stretch marks are permanent. And I developed high blood pressure as well. What are my options Thank you.

Hi,

Steroids cause fluid retention. Generally, the steroid is put in one place and it is in small amounts, so the fluid retention doesn't happen. Mostly I give this drug for skin ailments and small amounts on the skin. But if a big enough amount is given by injection, it could seep out and cause some overall effects including fluid retention. Not taking it, or taking a fluid pill would fix this mostly.
