What Causes Hypersensitivity To Cold After An Ankle Surgery?

Hi. I had surgery for an ORIF of the right ankle about 3 1/2 weeks ago. As this isn t bad enough I am now having a sensitivity to cold. This reminded me of several years ago I had a BHA and the same thing happened. After about 1 1/2 years ago that went away. Could that be a post anesthesia side affect of anesthesia? That seems to be the only thing I can trace it to. If so why does that happen?? If not do you have any ideas of what may be causing it???? Thanks in advance for your response!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests the cold hypersensitivity is not the issue of anesthesia, it is the problem related to nerve endings which can be sacrificed during the surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
