Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 63 year old female who had a hysterectomy at age 35. The past year I began to have severe hot flashes, mostly during the day. My friend noticed a bulge on the right front of my neck and suggested thyroid testing. Could these be related? I also have spinal stenosis that affects C2- C6.
Hot flushes may happen with thyroid problems especially hyperthyroidism (when the thyroid produces more than needed hormone). On the other hand, every neck lump needs to be checked with the doctor. Your doctor will examine you and if necessary will ask for an ultrasound of the neck and blood tests such as TSH and FT4.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Kind regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
