What Causes Hospice Care To Take Off At Old Age?

My mom is 97 yrs young, I need a doctor for her. She is in the bed. Cant walk, talk, or do any thing for herself. She is on hospice care, but they r taking her off. Shes not dying fast enough for my present hospice care provider, and her doctor. Medicare told me to get a second opinion, I need a doctor to come to our home in Romulus, not far from the airport.

Thanks for contacting HCM

I am sorry to hear about your mother and her inability to get hospice care. Unfortunately due to hospice and Medicare rules if a patients expectant live span is not less than 6 months then hospice is not allowed. I do see a need for her to continue to have regular visits from a healthcare provider. My suggestions are to have a home health agency with nursing care visit your mother. They maybe able also know of a physician or a nurse practitioner who does who does house calls. This situation is common and at times very difficult to manage. I wish you luck
