What Causes Hoarseness In Voice?

For about 3 weeks now I am unable to shout or speak loudly. I find it difficult to speak for long periods and i can feel hoarseness in my voice. I also feel i have an itchy throat and i keep trying to clear it which i feel makes the hoarseness worse. I am quite worried that its something serious since its been more than 3 weeks now and usually hoarseness goes away in couple of weeks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. An indirect laryngoscopic is required to rule out possible causes like vocal cord contusion or nodules.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
