What Causes Hoarseness In Voice While On Oxybutynin?

Hi I have been taking oxybutinin er cl 5 mg for the last nine months over the course of this time I have had three upper respiratory infections , experienced dry mouth, hoarseness, and excessive coughing. I deceased the oxybutynin in early March and all of the symptoms I described have diminished. So with hoarseness being the first symptom that I experienced... could the medicine be the cause of my symptoms?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You might be having a long-term (chronic) pharyngitis followed by laryngitis. Consultation with ENT doctor, for laryngoscopy, is required. Take voice rest and Erythrocin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
