What Causes Hives On The Arms Post Oral Contraceptive Withdrawal?

2 days ago, I broke out in severe hives on my arms around 7pm. Yesterday, I got hives again, but all over my body at about 1pm. This morning, they came back at around 7-8am; I hadn’t even ate anything. I’m not sure what’s going on... I’ve never been allergic to anything. Nothing has changed as far as diet or soaps, but my medication has; I quit taking my oral contraceptive at the end of September. Could this be an early sign of pregnancy or my body adjusting to not being on the pill anymore? How long should I let this keep happening before I see someone about it? Benadryl has been helping with the itch.

Hi there, I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic.

As such, any medications should not cause allergies after stopping it.
Oral contraceptive pills get out of your body within 24 to 36 hours, so stopping the pills is most likely not the reason for your symptoms.

I will suggest you to seek prescription support from your treating doctor for anti histamine like Cetrizine 10 mg at night for 5 days.
If symptoms still persist then please consider visiting a dermatologist.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
