What Causes Higher Liver Functioning Test During Pregnancy?

I had a stillborn at 33 weeks with my first baby due to HELLP Syndrom. I am now 35 weeks pregnant with my seconde child and my liver funtion test has come back higher than normal. Could this result to anthing bad happerning to the baby or me?

Hi there,

Liver function tests could be abnormal due to a lot of reasons. It is usually a variation of the normal, and need not cause you to worry. This is because pregnancy itself causes the normal limits of the liver function to change (and this is usually not reported with reference to pregnancy but in reference to adult female). This could lead to the values being read as abnormal.
If you do not have high BP, HELLP, or abnormal itching or any other symptoms indicating liver diseases, then you need not worry yourself.
