What Causes High Levels Of Amylase With Stomach Pain?
Hi there my 15 year old daughter was rushed to hospital with stomach pains on her left hand side under her rib cage. She has been suffering recurrent pains for some time and has lost a considerable amount of weight, almost a stone and a half since March. Her blood tests revealed a high level of amylase at 500. My daughter also has bouts of eating very little as she says it hurts her after eating so she lives on bread and cereal. The hospital have discharged her with a view to returning for an ultrasound, possible mri and repeat blood test next week. How likely is it that she is suffering from pancreatitis and is the level of her amylase something to be concerned about? Thank you
