What Causes High Fever, Vomiting And Shortness Of Breath?

My sister is in the hospital...she became very ill (started feeling badly before her trip & thought it was the flu) and got worse day by day til she had a high fever, couldn t walk, vomiting, shortness of breath....she s had all kinds of testing. Nodules on her liver were biopsied yesterday and fluid came out so the doc said she had a liver infection of some kind. Glucose is off the charts at 229 at highest and 188 at lowest. Incredibly weak and is about 100+ overweight. WE ARE CONCERNED AS SHE WONT LET ANYONE ELSE TALK TO THE DOCS. We think Type 1 diabetes, or pancreatitis or hepatitis is going on. She finally admitted she was diabetic but had just been taking some pills for it. They are monitoring her glucose every 1/2 hr and very careful about what she can eat. At one point she also had heart palpitations. She said the doctor was biopsying her lesions on her liver after the procedure. This was a change from her use of the word nodules. Any ideas what might be going on? The doc will give only her the lab results when they come in and we are afraid she won t tell us the real truth.

Hello,

A patient who has diabetes and if it's uncontrolled then they are at a risk of infection . It could be hepatitis but hepatitis doesn't cause nodules on the liver . let's wait for the biopsy reports mostly the nodules on liver are benign.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
