What Causes High Fever In A Child?

my daughter is 4 and has had fever for 10 days now. No toher Symptoms other than high fever. The highest fever has been 105. I took her to the emergency room they did an x-ray,urinalysis(sent it for culture),throat culture but didnt do any blood work and sent us home with the diagnosis of her having a virus. Day 5 of her high fevers I took her to her peditrician and she also did a urinalysis(she also sent it for culture) TB test its negative and did blood work on her.Still waiting on results. Im at a loss. Do I take her back to the hospital or just wait for the blood work results.

Hi....day 5 of high grade fever without any other symptom could be a viral infection or a typhoid fever.

I suggest doing a Blood culture and starting on oral antibiotics - either Cefixime or Azithromycin.

Do not rely on Widal test for diagnosing typhoid.

Blood culture is the gold standard.
