What Causes High Fever Along With Itching In The Feet?
I have fever since two days. High fever reached till 103.5 first day and second day 103. Second day around 10:30 pm. Itching started in my both feet, sole, finger till 1:30 am. After that I slept. But I woke up at 4:00 am again. Could you pls suggest some medicine? Also I want to know is it symptoms of Dengue or chickengunia? Thanks
The itching is not typical of either dengue or chikungunya. The rash in dengue can be itchy sometimes, but is usually generalised. Having said that, if you stay in a dengue-prone area and have any vomiting or headaches and bodyaches, or the fever lasts more than 3 days I would visit your local doctor to get a quick blood test done to be sure.
To help with the itching, try some anti-histamines that sedate you like chlorpheniramine. Also, cold compresses by dipping in cold water or using cold packs tend to work well with itching on the palms and soles. If you haven't already, you could try controlling your fever with paracetamol 1g 6 hourly. You may also try anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen if paracetamol on its own doesn't work, but note that this should only be done once dengue has been ruled out.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr. Teh
