Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was hospitalized with a CK blood level over 12000 4 days ago (yes 12000). He been on an IV for tha last 4 days and it was last checked at over 7000. The doctor says it could have been from a strenuos workout (he is 21). I am very worried that there is an underlying problem, disease or something else causing this. Should I be concerned? Should I see a specialist?
CK is a muscle enzyme, sometimes as your doctor has suggested it may be caused by strenuous exercise, however it definitely should be seen by a specialist, in order to make sure that nothing is missed. it also needs to be corelated with any other symptoms like muscle pain or weakness.
