What Causes High BP?

My systolic jumped very high for about two weeks. My diastolic is always normal 65 - 73 but my pressure jumped to 170 to 192. My doctor told me to double up on my Ramipril 2.5. But I feel like I have the flu or is this just anxiety. I ve had eye headaches for two weeks so I thought it was sinus or flu. I feel very anxious. I m taking 1/4 mg. of xanax to calm me down. I have never taken flu shot

Hello,

A sinus infection can raise blood pressure values. For this reason, I recommend performing a sinus X-ray study and complete blood count for infection.

In the meantime, I agree with your doctor on the recommendation to raise the dose of Ramipril as long as your blood pressure values continue to be high.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
