What Causes Hernia In The Groin Area While Suffering From Liver Cirrhosis?

I have end stage 2 cirrhosis, and i have developed a hernia in my groin. I was told that an operation to remove the hernia is a dangerous thing for me, and life threatening due to the shock on my liver which may lead to kidney failure and death. How real is this threat? YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

There is an increased risk but I dont think that this threat is so big that surgery is contraindicated. This is stage 2 and it should not interfere with aneshesia. Hernia surgery is typically minor procedure and if you ask me, it can be done in this case. ALso, it can be done under local anesthesia or spinal anesthesia if there are concerns about general one. So I am sure that surgery can be performed with no danger for liver function. At least, if you are my patient, I would do it if anesthsiolgst agree.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
