What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding During Post Menopause?

Hello. I am 55, and post menopausal, I stopped my periods abruptly at age 48 and have had no periods since. 7 days ago I had blackish drainage, about 2 quarters worth on peri-pads 5 times daily, with some light cramping, period like. I had very little cramping with my periods. Yesterday, I started with heavy bleeding, heavier than my periods, dropped some quarter size clots in the shower, and am filling about 6 full size pads per day. I am waiting for a call-back, but am very concerned. I have no family history. Should I be concerned about tumors, or maybe just a fibroid?

HI
Well come to HMC
I really appreciate your concern, such nonfunctional bleeding is very common in this age and this could be due to hormonal disturbances, this is nothing to worry, because this is self limiting condition, if this long last and become worse then this need to be investigated and for this ultrasonography is the best way, try to have rest as long as it is possible, else this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care.
