What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding And Sharp Pelvic Pain During Periods?

Hi I m 51 years old and have heavy bleeding and sharp pelvic pain during my periods. Birth control isn t feasible because of the other meds I m on. I ve had a recent D & C, there isn t endometriosis or cancer. I want to keep my ovaries but the doctor is against this because of my age. What suggestions do you have?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

It is good that endometriosis and cancer are ruled out, but you need to bare in mind that the diagnosis needs to be established. Once the cause is found, we can accoringly treat the cause.

If your doctor has mentioned wanting to remove youe ovaries, the ovaries could very well be the cause for the pain and bleeding. Possibly ovarian cysts?

If this is the case and birth control is not an option, then a hysterectomy +salpingoopherectomy will be the only feasible option left I am afraid.

Best wishes.
