What Causes Heavy Sweating In A Patient With Endometrial Cancer?

Hello and thank you for this opportunity. I don t know if you can answer this question, i have not gotten a straight answer from anyone. i am 58 yr old white female, went thru menopause around 52 but within a year i started spotting again and they found endometrial cancer. 4th stage I think. Underwent a radical hysterctomy thank they were able to remove it all and i had 2 rounds of brachatherapy (I think I spelled it right). I have had hot flashes off and on for several years and bad ones with night sweats. They stopped for about a year and now I am suffering with burning up on the inside and night sweats again. The minute I move around if it is warm I start pouring with sweat. One dr. I had at the beginning of my periomenopause and menopause put me on Clonidine for the problem, because of my high risk of cancer I was never given hormone treatment. Is it possible for it to return and is there anything that can help this? I am miserable and depressed because it is so embarrassing to be soaking wet in public. Does this last forever? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am pretty healthy as far as bloodwork goes other than borderline diabetic which I try hard to keep under control, all my numbers have been good so what could be going on? Thank u so much for your time. Peggy

Hello,

Your problem of excessive sweating is clearly related to removal of uterus or surgical menopause. Hormonal treatment is clearly not indicated in your case. The following are my recommendations:
1) Tab. Pregabalin 75mg daily once at night.
2) Tab. Escitalopram 10mg once daily.
3) Take the above medications for 2weeks.

If you don't find any result in 2weeks, we shall try other medications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
