What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding While On Microgynon?

I have been on microgynon for 23 years and everything has been fine , last month I had mid cycle bleeding for about 10 days . This month I had a lot of bleeding seven days after my period finished again for 9-10 days .i have right side pain , dull ache in the kidney area. I have had kidney , bladder , uterus and ovary scan and all ok . A small fibroid was seen on scan .Blood tests for kidney ,iron ,hormones all ok . Urine test all ok. No smear testhas been done because I am not due one for two year ,last one was borderline with no HPV detected. Lab would not test it if it was done .doctor has changed pill to Marvelon. Worried

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular bleeding you are having are most probably not due to microgynon contraceptive pills you are taking. These pills regulate the periods and do not have side effect of causing irregular periods.
Irregular bleeding can be due to problems in the endometrial lining ( lining of the uterus) .Hormonal changes and carcinoma can also be a possibility.
You need to have endometrial biopsy to rule out these situations.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated and treated accordingly.
