What Causes Heavy And Irregular Menstruation?

i m not sure how to explain it, but i need to know if my symptoms are normal.. i ve been bleeding heavy menstrual cycle, twice this month, this time is heavy with blood clots, none stop bleeding for 2 days, changing pads every hour. what can i do? is this normal? i m going to be 51 in December

1. Menopause [which is normally 45 years in women with average of 51 years], so it can be perimenopausal or post menopausal bleeding due to hormonal fluctuations and any bleeding after menopause is considered abnormal so you should consult your OBGYN Doctor for heavy and irregular menstruation.

2. Step wise approach in your case will be:
. P.V. examination and USG to rule out abnormalities of uterus [polyps, endometrial atrophy, endometrial hyperplasia]
. Endometrial curettage and Biopsy to rule out malignancy
. If biopsy is normal, you will be advised hormone therapy pills for 3-4 cycles
. but if bleeding is not controlled, hysterectomy is advisable.
