What Causes Heartburn?

Hi, last Friday night I woke up with heartburn which is very odd for me. I never get heartburn. I didn t eat anything abnormal or spicy either. I took a rennie tablet and went back to sleep. Since then any time I drink a hot liquid I get a burning sensation right behind by sternum. Just while I m swallowing it, then its gone. Cold liquids are fine. Its just hot. Any ideas?
