What Causes Heart Palpitations With Heaviness In The Chest And Legs?
I have been feeling heart flutters, heaviness in chest, Legs feel heavy at night and in morning, example is like bricks and feet hurt when walking at night and in morning till I get going. Thyroid dr put me on small dose of meds but does not seem to change symptoms. Could there be a bigger problem I am missing?

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. It is better to do an ECG ( EKG ) examination to rule out heart problems to be on safe side. Thyroid profile should be checked and hypothyroidism if there, should be managed with adequate thyroxine dosage with regular follow up. If all these are clear then chest heaviness can be due to gastritis and gastro esophageal reflux. In such case taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) for 1 month will be helpful. Avoid excess spicy, fried and fatty foods. Carbonated drinks, alcohol, coffee and smoking should be avoided. Raise your head end with extra adequate pillows while sleeping. Make your dinner at least 2 hours before your bed time also. These measures will be helpful. If not helping then a consultation with gastroenterologist is well appreciated also.
