What Causes Heart Burn When With A History Of Gastric Flu?

Hi, I had a stomach bug a few days ago and took medication for it, ate good fibre foods and saw it through. It seems to be gone now now but I still get a slight burning sensation and today I felt a few pokes on either side of my belly also closer to my lower belly on the right hand side. It did not last long and eating did help but I m worried about gallstones or appendicitis. Is this a concern or am I being paranoid? My biggest problem in recent months is heart burn which may be caused from a post nasal drip issue, could this have a contributing factor? All of these problems started when I had gastric flu a year ago, i feel as if it was never fully out of my system. What do I do for normality again? Please help, it s really frustrating to live with a constant irritation of watching every thing I eat and wondering if it will affect me tomorrow.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, For rule out gallstone or appendix you can do USG investigation.Heart burn most probably due to gastritis or acidity.Gastritis is mostly due to H.pylori organism.Treatment for it is to take metronidazole+amoxicilin+omeprazole for 14 days. For simple gastritis omeprazole for 7 days is effective.First take complete course of this drugs and then even if symptoms are there,go for USG.
