What Causes Headaches And Fever?

Hello My daughter came home from school on Monday with a headache. She is not prone to headaches normally. It was so bad she got sick to her stomach, but then was better after resting. Tuesday morning when I woke her she had a fever. The fever went down with ibprofen, but never went away. Tonight she complained of a headache again, said it was throbbing. When I woke her about 30 min ago for meds she said her head still hurt and her neck also hurt. I am not sure how worried I should be. Those are all symptoms of meningitis, but I know there could be other causes as well.

Hello,

As symptoms not improving, bacterial infection can be suspected and physical examination needed.

In meningitis neck rigidity present and chin cannot touch chest. Blood is culture also advisable. Antibiotic course can be prescribed for your condition. Typhoid should be ruled out if loose stool or diarrhea associated.

If no specific cause found, then CBC, SGPT, SGOT investigation done. Acute gastritis like stomach inflammation condition also can be cause, consult the physician for examination.
