What Causes Headache With Painful And Swollen Tonsils?

Ummm...Hi doctor samuel grief. My tonsil, the one on the right is hurting me. it hurts more when I yawn. at first, i believe it was because of my eating of cheese lately (I m lactose intolerant) and this is what normally happens or maybe i get a headache or the worst thing that happens is that my tonsils get swollen and hurt and start to close off my wind pipe...but those didnt happen, just my right tonsil hurting as I have mentioned above. can you give me some sort of insight on what may be happening? thanks in advance.

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

Swollen tonsils means that you have tonsilitis. It could be due to bacterial infection. If a patient with such symptoms comes to my clinic then i would suggest following things:
> Take amoxicilin/clavulanic acid 625mg three times a day for 5 days
> Acetaminophen for headache
> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Spicy food
> Drinks
> Dust
