What Causes Headache, Nausea And Noise Or Light Irritation Post Injury?

I was rear ended on a stop sign while waiting to get into the parkway. As such my body and head was twisted to the left as I waited for the opportunity to drive in. It s been almost 3 weeks since the accident and I have been getting considerbly worse. My headaches, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to noise and light is not going away. It has impacted my ability to work, as the constant pain and pressure was interfering with my critical thinking abilities. My position as a project manager involves a lot of critical thinking, analysis and constant engagement with lots of people. Is it possible I have a brain injury? My doc just ordered me on 8 weeks rest, no work. How long will it take for me to recover?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from headache, nausea, sensitiveness to light and noise post injury during driving. Your symptoms are indicative of some internal injury to your brain or spinal cord. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP as trauma to the head or ears can cause damage to the tiny, fragile structures of the ear, leading to sensitivity of noise. It may also be indicative of nerve problems post injury. Neglect may cause hearing problems.

Sensitivity to light is commonly due to eye injury / blunt trauma or subarachnoid hemorrhage. It can cause irritability, confusion and can also interfere with critical thinking if not treated in time. Get required blood tests and imaging tests like X-ray, CT, MRI done to get a detailed study so that you can be treated without time loss. Recovery from treatment depends on the severity of the symptoms and how the system responses to the treatment being given. It differs from individual to individual.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
