What Causes Headache And Explosion Behind The Ear?

Yesterday in the early morning while sleeping, I had what felt a small explosion behind my right ear. As I have had this happen several times but in a very small scale, I would not think much about it and it would go away. This time I have a headache that extends to my right eye. Earlier today I took some extra strength Excedrin- while always seems to help- but nothing. Should I be concerned and contact our doctor? Any ideas as to what may have happened? Thank you for your time.

Hello!
Thank you for your question on HCM!

Regarding your concern I think that it may be caused by a vascular disorder inside your brain.
A raised blood pressure may cause similar symptoms.

I would recommend you to consult with your GP and have a careful physical examination and a routine blood test.
A brain CT scan may be needed to exclude a possible intracranial hemorrhage.

Hope to have been of help !
Greetings!
Dr.Aida
