What Causes Hard Lump At The Roof Of Mouth?

I have a hard lump on the roof of my mouth it s the size of a walnut.It s on the hard plate. Could this be serious ? I drink hot cofee and sometimes burn the roof of my mouth.The lump feels hard like bone. I took a photo of it with my ipod & will upload it for your observation, Thanks !

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the hard lump on the roof of the mouth can be a "Bony Torus" (which is an overgrowth of bone) if it has grown slowly over period of time.
It is nothing fatal but may get injured while eating specially something hard.

But if it has appeared and grown in a very shot duration of time you need to consult an Oral Surgeon to rule out for Cysts or Tumours.

Any treatment can be carried out only after the correct diagnosis of the lump..
