What Causes Hard Black Stools?

I just went to the bathroom, had to go very bad #2... I had some small droppings and then a long normal size one but i noticed the part in the water was very brown but the part sticking out was very black... all in one stool... I had vodka last night and ate pizza very late... Should I be concerned?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of hard black stool which is a sign of bleeding mainly upper intestinal as gastritis and duodenitis. It can be due to bleeding ulcer too and sometimes due to constipation. It is due to lack of roughage in diet. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take plenty of fluids in diet along with multivitamins. You should take oral rehydrating solution and along with that take diet rich in fibres. It could be due to dehydration as well due to intake of vodka. I would suggest you to visit gastroenterologist once and get complete examination done. You should get stool test done as well. You should get it monitored soon as sometimes it can cause lowered hemoglobin level in body.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
