I have been on metoprolol for abt 3 months.....in the last 3 weeks I ve noticed a significant amount of hair loss. Not my normal amount. I m 52 years old . Losing my hair is devastating !! What can I do about it!?? I m only taking 12.5 mgs a day. Was taking 60 mgs daily. Told dr my b p was extra low daily. So he reduced it to half. Then I reduced it to 12mgs My b p has been low and since I was started on the medication I have lost a lot of weight and stopped drinking . I was in hospital in July and was diagnosed with pancreatitis which is what prompted the medication due to b p being 160/ 90. I can t keep losing my hair. Please help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hair loss may be due to various reasons.

Mostly metoprolol doesn't interfere with hair growth.

Check your haemoglobin level and b12 level. Take multivitamin and antioxidants combination pills. Change water if it's hard. Apply coconut oil in hair. Don't apply much stronger shampoo and other hair products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
