What Causes Gross Hematuria With Clotting And Lower Back Pain Long After A SCI?

Hi. I m a 38yo female. I have performed ISC due to SCI for over 6 years. One week ago I had gross hematuria with clotting. (never experienced before) Cystoscopy was negative and KUB was unremarkable. For the last three days the urine has been mostly clear, but today I ve had lower back pain and am now passing clots and bloody urine again. My question is....assuming that this is due to urethral irritation, how long should I expect to heal?

Hi
It is not only urethral irritation that causes gross hematuria. It is mostly caused by kidney, ureteral or bladder problems among which are infections.A normal cystoscopy does not exclude an infection.A urinalysis is needed.I advice you see the Doctor for work-ups and drink enough water.
Wish you a quick recovery
