What Causes Groin Pain In An Obese Person?

My husband had a pain in the left groin area that kept him up last night until four o clock this morning. He is very over weight. 320 pounds, at 6 6. And a big abdomen has Diabetes, and does not always stay on his diet plan. He has no mobility problems and usually, able to do yard work. He is retired and loves to sit in front of the TV looking at the news channels. He picked up a large container of water to put on the cooler yesterday. He also stated that he has been having constipation, bur able to have small bowel movement, which was yellow in color. We have an appointment at our VA hospital on the 26th for a physical. I will be going with hi tomorrow to have bloods drawn before the appointment. He is feeling better today and wants to go out to rake leaves. He will not go to the Urgent care. Could you help me? Should I be concern? He is 69 years old. No blood pressure problems, but has been retired after working 44 years. I feel he is depressed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

The only trigger I see from the details provided is the lifting of the heavy object, which could have caused some amount of pressure or even a hernia related issue. A physical examination, and if required an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis should help to narrow down to the cause.

Best wishes.
