What Causes Geographic Tongue Along With Asthma And Sinus Problem?

Hello. I have weird markings on my tongue that appear randomly. I noticed them a few years ago, but they disappeared and just returned last month. It s not severe, but I cant stand it, it just looks bad. I think I have a condition know as Geographic tongue. Im not really sure. I also have asthma and really bad sinus problems. Can anyone help me on treating these flare ups?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of geographic tongue along with asthma and sinus problem which is mainly due to fungal infection of oral cavity. It is mainly oral thrush by candida infection. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene as it occurs because of poor oral hygiene and compromised immunity of body. Do brushing and flossing two times a day. Use Listerine mouthwash to prevent microbe accumulation in oral cavity.Use Nystatin suspensions to rinse oral cavity. Use antifungal medications. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy food substances. Drink green tea its very effective. Use apple cedar vinegar on cotton to apply on spots in oral cavity. Take diet rich in probiotics such as yogurt.Do warm saline gargles three times a day. If your symptoms keep son persisting visit dentist once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. Doctor may refer you to allergy specialist for asthma or ENT specialist for sinus problem .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
