What Causes Gasping Of Air While Tossing & Turning During Sleep?

Hello I will be about 5 months pregnant and have been gasping for air during the night. I had an episode about a month ago where I felt I couldn't breathe at all. It is very scary. For the past week, I have been tossing and turning and waking up gasping for air. When this does occur, I try to calm myself down. Is this common to have this type of feeling? What are some ways to prevent gasping for air?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Some degree of breathing difficulty is common at 5 month of pregnancy.
This is due to enlarging uterus which is pressing diaphragm and lungs.
So no need to worry much.
Another reason is stress and anxiety.
So avoid stress and tension. Be relax and calm.
You can do 1 more thing.
Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bedtime. So that your lungs are at higher level and we can prevent compression by uterus. So by this lungs can able to expand more and your symptoms can be subsided.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
