Hi, thanks for choosing the forum. It looks like your child went through a stomach infection and got depleted of the lactase enzyme through diarrheal episodes. Giving the child lactose free milk like nusobee and gradually graduating to breastmilk and other mild food stuff is the good way to do it. What might have possibly happenned is because of antibiotics used for the stomach infection, the child would have lost the beneficial gut flora and that's possibly the reason for indigestion and the color change of stools. Check your pediatrician whether the child can be started on probiotics like lactobacillus etc., They are generally very safe on children and infants. But the brand names of the drug might vary with different countries. We get biogaia oral drops in middle-east. In India, the popular brand is enterogermina solution as far as my knowledge goes. Check with your pediatrician before you go furthur. Don't worry things will settle fast. Regards,Dr.Pravin Asir.
