What Causes Frequent Sore Throat?

I have had 3 major sore throats since January 2017. I have been treated for two of them with amoxicillin and now with flonase and singulair. Except that i now have another sore throat. I have had sinus infections my whole life but I have never had three in 5 months. 1 or 2 a years, maybe, but never this many. I am concerned that i will become antibiotic resistant. could this sore throat be something other than a sinus infection? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

You can have repeated allergic inflammation of throat and sinuses

Your investigation needs to be done with PNS x ray and CBC...

Allergic testing also will be beneficial so that known allergen causing allergy can be detected...

Symptomatic management done when allergic sinusitis occurs (with fexofenedine course)

If recurrent tonsillitis attacks more then tonsillectomy might needed

Hence consult otorhinolaryngologist or physician for examination and then if allergy suspected from history and from CBC then you will be advised to do allergy testing for further work up

Hope your concern solved

Let me know if having further query

Take care
