My 20 y/o daughter has had strep throat 6 times in the past 8 months - each time she has taken various antibiotics (Penicillin VK, Keflix (sp?),etc). She also tested positive for mono last month. For the past 2 1/2 months and about once a week (sometimes more), she has been coughing/choking up what looks like skin or tissue of some sort. It s thin like skin. When we took it in a bag to the ENT she said, Hmm, that s weird but didn t pursue it as anything. I think she thought it might have been mucus, but I feel if it was it should have dissolved in that bag by now - it s been there since the weekend of Feb 14. Other things to know about my daughter - she has had GERD since the 2nd grade, her lymph nodes have been swollen in the back of her head and neck on and off, but mostly on for the past 3 threes. Her primary care doctor say it is because of her eczema, which doesn t appear to be active or inflamed much in her older years. She is scheduled to get her tonsils out in less than a month, which we are hoping will help with the recurring strep. However, her feeling of choking or something being stuck in her throat only to cough up this skin-like tissue remains a concern and a mystery. Any help is greatly appreciated!
