What Causes Frequent Heart Palpitations?

Hello I have been having frequent heart palpitations? I am young, very active, and athlete and have no family members who have history of heart disease however was born with innocent heart murmur and brother was born with an abnormal heart valve. My paplpitations have started since last year and a half. The frequency would be a few palpitations a day and 4 days a week perhaps. Usually happens when I m am doing moderate physical work and exercising. I am 21.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Regarding your concern, I would highly recommend that you go and see a cardiologist. You have to make a heart Echo-ultrasound heart examination, to check the muscle of your heart since you are relating your palpitations with the excess workout. You are too young to have heart disease, but young people may suffer from some forms of hypertrophy, especially athletes. This may be solved, but first you need to check a doctor and have this examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I wish you all the best.

Best Regards,
Dr. Eni
