General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

All types of rash and hives are caused by histamine in the body. Histamine is released when any rash and irritation and this causes redness, itching, swelling, and pain.

The medication, the insect bite, and some other factors may cause hives to appear. The most dangerous reaction of hives is seen when there is a medicinal reaction.

This can cause breathing difficulties and adrenaline would be needed. In case it is suspected that the rash is from the medication, do not use the medication again and get an allergy test done as quickly as possible to confirm the allergy.

Other causes of rash can be managed with icing, calamine lotion, keeping the skin dry. Many people find wearing loose cotton clothing useful as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
